Johnson Controls (PENN) P499ACP-107K
PENN P499 Series Electronic Pressure Transducer
PENN P499ACP-107K — 4…20 mA two-wire, 0…750 psig (0…51.7 bar) gauge, 1/4 in. SAE 45° flare internal thread (7/16-20 UNF) with Schrader depressor, Style 47, supplied as a kit with a 2.0 m Packard-connector wire harness. Our WIKA 84109625 shares the 7/16-20 UNF female Schrader port, the 4…20 mA two-wire loop output and the 2 m cable length, and its 7…30 V DC supply covers the P499's 9…30 V DC, so it will run on any loop that drives a P499. Both units are all-metal in the wetted path, with no elastomer seal in contact with the refrigerant. Check the following before ordering. Range. Our unit is 0…45 bar (653 psi) against the P499's 0…51.7 bar (750 psi). Any controller, display or datalogger scaled for 750 psi must be rescaled to 45 bar, or it will read about 15% high at full scale. WIKA also catalogues the R-1 in 0…50 bar, 0…60 bar and 0…750 psi — ask us if you need the full 750 psi span rather than the 45 bar unit held here. Termination. The P499 ends in a Packard (Metri-Pack 150) connector socket and takes a detachable three-conductor harness. Our unit has an integral 2 m PVC cable with bare flying leads and no connector, so it will not plug into an existing P499 harness; the leads wire directly to the controller terminals (brown = supply +, green = signal return, white third conductor unused on the two-wire output). A Metri-Pack 150 version of the R-1 is catalogued if a plug-in replacement is needed. Accuracy. The P499 is specified at ±1% of full span over its compensated range. Our unit is specified at ≤±2% of span. Media. The P499 is rated for ammonia (R717). The WIKA R-1 data sheet does not state ammonia compatibility — its special-media option covers flammable refrigerants. For R717 systems, confirm suitability with us before ordering. Temperature and humidity. The P499 is rated -40…+85 °C ambient, -40…+125 °C storage and 0…100% RH. Our unit is rated -25…+85 °C ambient and storage, -40…+100 °C medium, and 0…93% RH. Vibration and shock. Johnson Controls publishes 20 G from 20 to 200 Hz and 200 G / 11 ms for the P499. The R-1 data sheet publishes no vibration or shock figure, so equivalence on direct-mount compressor and condenser pipework is not established. Hazardous locations. The P499 is UL Recognized for use in Class I, Division 2 (File E322274). The R-1 carries CE, EMC, PED and RoHS, with UL only as an optional approval and no hazardous-location listing. Our unit is not a like-for-like replacement in a Class I, Division 2 installation. Overpressure. The P499 withstands 2x range, 1,500 psi (103 bar), on a short abnormal excursion. Our unit is 2x range but capped at 80 bar by the Schrader connection. Our unit is IP69K at the cable outlet. Johnson Controls publishes no IP rating for the gauge-pressure Packard P499 models.
